Book reservations are a great option if you want to make sure that a book you want is available to be picked up at the library.
Online reservations are also a great option when you don't have much time to browse during library hours and you really want to be able to borrow books. For example, the entire family can choose their books for Shabbos* from the comfort of home. Once your books are reserved, one person can stop by the library and all the books will already be prepared at the librarian's desk, ready for checkout.
If you can't come downstairs, we are still offering curbside pickup and drop-off upon request. Curbside pickup is not limited to those with medical concerns. If you have a stroller that is difficult to bring downstairs, or for any reason prefer curbside pickup, please let us know and we are happy to try to accommodate.
*To guarantee your books will be ready on Friday, we recommend reserving your books by 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. We can't guarantee that books reserved after 2:00 p.m. Thursday will be ready for Friday.
When you create an account at the Levi Yitzchok Library, you will be given the option of setting up a username and password. This will allow you to log in to your account online and you will have the option of reserving books for up to 4 days.
If you want to make sure your books are ready for pickup, wait for an email confirmation letting you know that your books are ready for pickup. You will receive an email within 36 hours of the reservation. Once you get an email, you can stop by the library during library hours and the librarian will have your books waiting for you at the desk.
Online library accounts need to be set up through the librarian. If you have an existing account, and have not already received an email with information on how to log in, you can stop by in person or call during library hours and the librarian will help you set it up.
Alternatively, you can send us an email or message on WhatsApp and we will try to respond within 48 hours.
If your account has expired, you will need to pay to renew your account before setting up an online login.
You can reserve the amount of books that you are able to check out on your account. For example, if you have an account that allows you to borrow 3 books, you will also be able to reserve 3 books, even if you already have 3 books checked out. However, you will need to return the books you have before actually borrowing the reserved books.
If this is your first time trying book reservations, we recommend watching the tutorial video. The video will show you how to check that your reservations have actually been recorded by the system.
If your account shows you a list of reserved books and it has been more than 36 hours, please let us know so we can figure out what is not working and fix it.
We do not offer holds on books that are already on loan by other users. Book reservations are only for books that are in the library at the time of reservation. (Watch the how-to video for more information on how to see if a book is available.)
